WORK DONE TO DEFINE MANAGEMENT MODELS FOR NATURAL REGENERATION IN YOUNG MARITIME PINE AREAS

A field protocol was developed to evaluate natural regeneration (NR) management models in young Pinus pinaster stands.

To achieve the objective, the following activities were defined:

  1. Selection of areas, which involved selecting a group of maritime pine management experts to respond to a survey and determine the availability of areas to evaluate Natural Regeneration management models;
  2. Evaluation, in areas located in central and northern regions and representative of different types of maritime pine obtained by natural regeneration.
    After selecting the areas and defining and characterizing the management models of Natural Regeneration, the productivity of operations based on manual and mechanical methods was evaluated.
