The rePlant project, led by The Navigator Company and in collaboration with ForestWise, arose from the need to develop integrated and innovative solutions which ensure the sustainable management of woodlands, helping to prevent incidents such as fires.
This initiative had an investment of 5.6 million euros and brought together more than 20 entities, including leading companies in the sector, universities and other research and innovation entities.
The work developed by those involved led to the development of new products, processes and services, which contribute to reducing the risk of fire.
“The aim is to improve the management and decision-making processes of forestry and energy companies, introducing a high degree of innovation in integrated forest and fire management,” Navigator explains in a statement.
Now, the results of three years of innovation to further enhance Portugal’s woodlands will be presented at the event “Digital Forestry: Take it to the next level”, to be held on June 1st, at 4pm, at the Electricity Museum (Tejo Power Station).
Taking as a starting point the results of this mobilizing project, the event will highlight the technologies and strategies that allow the integrated management of forest and fire; new products, processes and services, which contribute to the reduction of fire risk; and the impact on job creation and internationalization of companies in the sector.
The topics will be discussed by João Faria Conceição, COO of REN; António Redondo, CEO of The Navigator Company; José Soares de Pina, CEO of Altri, SGPS; and José Manuel Bigares Careto, Chairman of the Executive Board of E-REDES.
