The new project for the valorization and defense of the Portuguese forest was launched in March.

New project for the valorization and defense of the Portuguese forest launched on March 26, 2021 and aims to showcase new technologies and create services in the areas of integrated forest and fire management.

The rePLANT project (www.replant.pt) – Implementation of collaborative strategies for integrated forest and fire management – was born from the union of 20 entities, from companies to universities and research centers, to study the forest and its valorization. This is a project of national interest with more than 70 researchers and specialized technicians that will bring new technologies to develop the Portuguese forest and make it safer!

The CEF – Center for Forestry Studies of the Instituto Superior de Agronomia, University of Lisbon, is one of its partners and will, together with the other 19 entities, develop integrated and innovative solutions to ensure the sustainable management of Portuguese forests, so that they are cared for, protected and are a source of wealth for people, communities and the country. The valorization of national forests is one of the main goals of rePLANt, which, through a collaborative effort will contribute to an integrated management of forests and fire.

With an action period of 3 years, this project has a budget of 5.6 million euros, being supported in 3.3 million euros by Compete/Portugal 2020, through the Competitiveness and Innovation Operational Program (POCI) and the Lisbon 2020 Operational Program.
