The event “Digital Forestry: Take it to the next level”, to be held on June 1, at 4pm, at the Electricity Museum (Tejo Power Plant), will present the results of three years of innovating for the betterment of Portugal’s woodlands, through the rePlant project. Led by The Navigator Company and in collaboration with ForestWise, this mobilizing initiative arose from the need to develop integrated and innovative solutions to ensure the sustainable management of our woodlands.
The project involved investment of 5.6 million euros and brought together more than 20 entities, including leading companies in the sector, universities and other research and innovation bodies, whose work led to the development of new products, processes and services, largely supported by digital technologies, which help reduce the risk of fire. The goal is to improve the management and decision-making processes of forestry and energy companies, introducing a high degree of innovation in integrated forest and fire management.
Taking the results of this mobilizing project as a starting point, a debate will be promoted on innovation and technology in the forest in the era of digital transformation, the future of the forest and its contribution to the bioeconomy.
In focus will be the technologies and strategies that enable the integrated management of forest and fire; new products, processes and services that contribute to reducing the risk of fire; and the impact on job creation and internationalization of companies in the sector.
In an opportunity to discuss the challenges and solutions to boost the forestry sector, the event will also host a panel discussion with the participation of João Faria Conceição, COO of REN; António Redondo, CEO of The Navigator Company; José Soares de Pina, CEO of Altri, SGPS; and José Manuel Bigares Careto, Chairman of the Executive Board of E-REDES.
