The event “Digital Forestry: Take it to the next level”, which takes place this Thursday, June 1, at 4 p.m. at the Electricity Museum (Tejo Power Plant), will present the results of three years of innovating for greater appreciation of Portuguese forests, through the rePlant project. Led by The Navigator Company and in collaboration with ForestWise, this mobilizing initiative “arose from the need to develop integrated and innovative solutions that ensure the sustainable management of our forests”, reads a statement.

According to the same source, the project had an investment of 5.6 million euros and brought together more than 20 entities, including leading companies in the sector, universities and other research and innovation entities, whose work led to the development of new products, processes and services, largely supported by digital technologies, which contribute to reducing the risk of fire. The goal is to improve the management and decision-making processes of forestry and energy companies, introducing a high degree of innovation in integrated forest and fire management.

Taking the results of this “mobilizing” project as a starting point, a debate will be promoted on innovation and technology in the forest in the era of digital transformation, the future of the forest and its contribution to the bioeconomy.

In focus will be the technologies and strategies that allow the integrated management of forest and fire; new products, processes and services that contribute to reducing the risk of fire; and the impact on job creation and internationalization of companies in the sector.

In an opportunity to discuss the challenges and solutions to boost the forestry sector, the event will also host a panel discussion with the participation of João Faria Conceição, COO of REN; António Redondo, CEO of The Navigator Company; José Soares de Pina, CEO of Altri, SGPS; and José Ferrari Careto, CEO of E-REDES.
